ZIGGI'S AWARDS PAGE

   ADMILSH ZABARI

GCCF IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER

fIFE INTERNATIONAL PREMIER

TICA CHAMPION ALTER

I've had to give Ziggi his very own awards page as it was getting a bit crowded on his own personal page!  Ziggi has been a regular on the show scene since he was five months old and has won many awards, therefore I will only be adding his very special honours, ones that are worth that extra special mention that he is particularly proud of! And now that Keeto has started his show career, his special achievements will also be added to this page. Ziggi and Keeto have gracefully allowed Callie the Labrador, to add some of his own awards to this page.

THE FIRST AND ONLY BENGAL CAT

GRAND PREMIER CERTIFICATE

AND

BEST OF BREED

Ziggi said goodbye to the show bench today with an almost Red Card day. He won the Grand Premier Certificate, Best of Breed, first in two of his side classes and second in a large class of nine in his third side class. What a great end to a fabulous show career! He accompanied 17 week old Zsami to his first show ever and the two of them in Ziggi's double pen at the end of the day brought smiles to both visitors and exhibitors as it really was a case of Little and Large.... Ziggi being the biggest Bengal at the show and Zsami being the smallest! Ziggi tried to give him a wash as Zsami played rolly polly wanting to play!

We would like to thank all of the judges who awarded Ziggi his

80 Show Certificates over the past years for thinking so highly of him.

The Awards are much appreciated and will always be cherished.

Thank you from ......

Ziggi

WESTCOUNTRY CAT CLUB SHOW

HELD IN WESTON-SUPER-MARE ON 16th JANUARY 2010

Ziggi had a lovely day at the Westcountry CC show with fantastic results and almost a red card day. Keeto was on Exhibition, much admired by the public and very relaxed in his pen. I spent the afternoon distributing rosettes and prize cards and as usual the show, run by the Team Robinson, was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

ZIGGI WAS AWARDED

RESERVE IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER CERTIFICATE

ALSO AWARDED

  GRAND PREMIER CERTIFICATE

BEST OF BREED

and also placed 1st in his side class

NATIONAL CAT CLUB 2009

 BEST IN SHOW FOREIGN EXHIBIT

&

BEST OF BREED

WOW ….. What a fantastic day Ziggi had at the prestigious National Cat Club show!! Never in my wildest dreams after winning Best of Breed for the second year running did I ever think he would win BEST IN SHOW FOREIGN EXHIBIT at this major show. A new pinnacle of his wonderful show career, this lovely cat never ceases to amaze me at his continued achievements and at the grand age of nine he really deserves every bit of it!!

Congratulations also go to Pedigree Pet ‘Louie’, owned by my friend Dawn Franklin. He won the final of the

Crystal Clear HHP Competition. Well done Dawn and Louie!

BENGAL CAT CLUB SHOW

HELD IN NEWBURY ON 25th JULY 09

ZIGGI IS ON EXHIBITION IN CELEBRATION OF HIS NEW TITLE

Ziggi and I attended the annual Bengal Cat Club show in Newbury on Saturday. Ziggi was on Exhibition in celebration of his new Imperial Grand Premier status, and I was on Team Robinson’s show team helping out with the shows paper work.

It was a fabulous show and a true testimony to the way the Bengal breed has developed in the UK - the cats were truly stunning.

Ziggi was delighted to be awarded Mrs. Pam Wildings ‘Special Rosette’ as her Judges favourite choice for the day. At his last show, the Wiltshire & District, Mrs. Wilding placed him first in two classes and this is the lovely show report she wrote about him: -

AV FOREIGN SENIOR NEUTER 1st COAK'S GR PR ADMILSH ZABARI (76 30)

"Handsome chap, strutted onto the table, clearly believing ‘If you’ve got it, flaunt it’ and he

has ‘it’ in abundance. Super type, wonderful coat, and always the perfect gentleman.

Perfect Ambassador for the breed. I gave him his first Imperial and now I find he won his fifth today.

So many congratulations Zabari, you deserve it.”

This Imperial Grand Premier plaque, awarded by the club to Titles cats, is really magnificent and I was thrilled to collect it on Saturday to display above his pen with all his other special awards and rosettes. Ziggi was, as usual, given loads of attention by both exhibitors and visitors alike and although I was kept busy all day it was lovely to see old friends and also some of the newer cats and kittens coming up. Thank you to Elaine and John Robinson and the rest of the show team for putting on such a great show, which I know was enjoyed by all!

WILTSHIRE & DISTRICT CAT CLUB SHOW

HELD IN SWINDON ON 4th JULY 09

IMPERIAL

GRAND PREMIER ADMILSH ZABARI

HE'S DONE IT!!!  ...... Yesterday at the Wiltshire and District Cat Club show Ziggi was awarded his fifth and final Imperial Grand Premier certificate to enable him to attain the above title. In doing so he thereby became the fourth male Bengal ever to be awarded this title in the history of cat showing!

I can't tell you how proud I am of this wonderful big boy as, after 8 years on the show bench representing this fabulous breed, he has gained the highest title on the GCCF show circuit. He has followed the Bengal breed through each stage of their acceptance into the world of GCCF Championship showing and I believe he is the only Brown Spotted Bengal in the UK to have done this.

Not only did he win the Imperial Grand Premier class, he was also awarded Best of Breed (despite the strongest of competition), the Reserve Grand Premier Certificate and won all of his side classes. As usual he lapped up all the attention that visitors to the show were giving him and it was a wonderful climax to a wonderful show career!

With many thanks to the following judges who awarded his five Imperial Grand Premier Certificates: -

Mrs. Wilding, Mrs. Kalal, Mrs. Green, Mrs. Kilby and Mrs. Kidd

It was a lovely show, great venue and Ziggi also won the Best Veteran in the side class he entered and I won the Best Decorated Pen - for the fourth time in the past five years!

Ziggi being judged by Irene Van Belezen from Belgium and centre, by Vlada Benina from Russia

Not quite a show brag as Ziggi didn’t manage to get any finals this time out but his cuddles from the actress Joanna Lumley most definitely deserves a mention on this page!!

Miss Lumley was at the show on Saturday filming for a TV programme that was shown on ITV on two consecutive Sundays, September 6th and September 13th, called 'Joanna Lumley Catwoman'. This is a documentary  in two parts and will incorporate cats from all over the world of all shapes, sizes, colours and histories. She spent most of Saturday with her crew filming and interviewing people and Ziggi and I were lucky enough to be amongst those interviewed. She also held Ziggi in her arms so that I could take some photos and she kept saying how adorable he was as he lapped up her kisses.

It was a really lovely programme and the show was featured in the first half of the first episode. The Bengals were in abundance and I recognised many of the cats and owners. It was really lovely to see  a few seconds of Ziggi on the programme and of course, I have bought the DVD !

On a personal note I have to mention that my very first school was Whitfield Infants School in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The school was separated from the adjoining Ghurkha Army camp by a wire fence and one of my overriding fond memories of this school were the Ghurkha wives and their children on the other side of the fence watching us children playing in the playground.  My late father, a Captain in the British Army, always told me of the courage of the Ghurkhas and their role in the defense of Britain, and for this reason I have to say how much I admire Miss Lumley for taking up the cause of the Ghurkhas recently. (Wish I had said that to her at the weekend, but unfortunately it never entered my head!)

Ziggi had a lovely relaxing day and was his usual soppy self for the judges and as usual wowed everyone by his size and super laid back character.

KEETO WON ENOUGH POINTS TO BE

AWARDED THE TITLE OF

QUADRUPLE GRAND CHAMPION ALTER

What a fantastic two days Keeto had during this weekend. His points and four finals secured him four more titles. That of Grand Champion Alter, Double Grand Champion Alter, Triple Grand Champion Alter and Quadruple Grand Champion Alter!!

On the Sunday in the very last ring late in the afternoon the judge teased us all by keeping us guessing as to who was placed where in the final by doing the results randomly. I was at the edge of my seat as gradually all the places were filled and absolutely delighted when he was placed Third Best Alter.

SOUTHERN COUNTIES CAT CLUB

HELD IN READING ON 31st JANUARY 2009

Ziggi had a lovely day at the show, purring and enjoying all the attention he was getting. Considering he spent most of the night chirping and purring around our Travelodge room, knocking bits and pieces off the dressing table to get my attention and generally being a little menace, I was surprised at how alert he was during the show. Needless to say Sunday was a whole day in bed for him!

OUT OF A LARGE CLASS ZIGGI WAS AWARDED THE

GRAND PREMIER CERTIFICATE

What a spectacular Grand Premier rosette!

At just nine months of age, Keeto attended his first Tica International show. The judges hailed from such far flung places as Argentina, France, Belgium, Spain and the USA. Considering this was a new experience for him, he did fantastically well and at the end of the two days he gained enough points to gain his first title, Champion Alter.

I was so proud of him and he did so well against very strong competition. He was very relaxed in his decorated pen and was superb during his eight hour round trip to and from Coventry. He also enjoyed his two nights stay in the show hotel!

CALLIE DOES IT AGAIN!

31.5.08 - Well, yet another outing to a village dog show and Callie not only wins Best Sporting Dog, but he goes on to win Best in Show Pedigree!! It was a lovely hot day at South Zeal in mid Devon and Callie really enjoyed himself. This has spurred me on to be a bit more ambitious later on in the summer and try him out at an Open show held under Kennel Club rules. If he does well there then I think Callie will deserve his very own web page, which I’m sure the cats won’t mind… in fact I think Ziggi is getting a bit miffed at Callie hogging his Awards page of late!!

A LITTLE NEWS ABOUT THE DOGS!

4.5.08 - Yesterday we once again ventured into the alien world of dog showing. We took Callie, our twenty two month old Labrador and eight year old Springer Spaniel, Bruno, to Sampford Courtenay Family Dog Show.

This was Bruno’s first show, although we did take him and Buckles to the same show about three years ago but Buckles hurt his tail getting out of the car and Bruno was so nervous that we had to abandon the whole idea. This time however, Bruno had a lovely day and his tail almost wore out with all the wagging! This was Callie’s second show. The first was a year ago when he did so well at Lustleigh Show.

We didn’t intend entering Bruno in anything yesterday but he was enjoying himself so much that he went into the Long Hair section and came a very respectable fourth out of about twenty dogs, and second (‘e wos robbed!) to another Springer in the Waggy Tail class!

Callie was entered in the Sporting Dog class, (they are both working gun dogs), the Open class and the Shorthair Dog class. He was unplaced in the first two  classes but we were delighted when he was placed first out of about twenty five dogs in the Shorthair.

At the end of the show all the winners from the fourteen classes competed for Best In Show Family Dog and by this time Callie was beginning to get the hang of this showing lark and was ignoring the dogs next to him and standing in a much more gainly manner (although I think the cat nibbles I had in my pocket might have had something to do with it! )The results were announced in reverse order and I was stunned when the accolade was awarded to Callie!!

They both had a wonderful day out and had lots of treats when they got home

BEDFORD & DISTRICT CAT CLUB SHOW

HELD IN GODMANCHESTER ON 26th APRIL 2008

GRAND PREMIER CERTIFICATE

BEST OF BREED

Well.....!! A very surprising day for Ziggi when he was awarded the Grand Certificate AND Best of Breed  despite the strongest of competition. He had a lovely day and as usual enjoyed all the attention he was getting.

I must mention here the venue. The show was held at the Woodgreen Animal Shelter near Godmanchester, and during our enforced expulsion from the show hall while the judging was going on I took the opportunity to have a wander around this excellent sanctuary. It really was the most amazing place. The dogs, cats, horses and goats that I saw were all so relaxed and contented in their temporary home. There are paddocks for the larger animals and exercise areas in which the dogs can stretch their legs and have a good run around.

The shelter certainly brushed away the stress from my six hour journey to get to the hotel the day before! I would highly recommend anyone visiting the area to go to visit this animal shelter as they do such a wonderful job and are well worth supporting. An excellent restaurant and shop are also on site with grassy areas and duck ponds around which you can enjoy a picnic. A great venue for a cat show!

The Westcountry show is one of Ziggi's favorite shows as he gets lots of yummy freebies! It's also one of my favorites as 'Team Robinson' do a fabulous job with the organisation and is it always much appreciated by both exhibitors and visitors alike.

THE SUPREME CAT SHOW

HELD AT THE NEC, BIRMINGHAM 17TH NOVEMBER 2007

Ziggi went to the Supreme Cat Show at the NEC in Birmingham last weekend and came home with a very respectable third place. He had a lovely day and showed himself beautifully, at one point even trying to get onto the judges lap! I won the Bengal Cat Clubs first prize for the Best Decorated Pen, which was judged by Gene Ducote who was on the clubs Club Row stall doing a book signing for her new book “Getting to know the Bengal cat”. Thank you very much … the Cava went down very well!

Whilst there I collected my commemorative plaques from the Bengal Cat Club's table which are awarded to the Bengal Cats who had gained their titles. These look absolutely fantastic and are a wonderful gesture from the Club to the Bengal Cats who are representing the breed on the UK show scene. Thank you very much from both Ziggi and myself. The two plaques will be taking pride of place in Ziggi's awards room.

NOTHING TO DO WITH CATS!

18.8.07 - Yesterday Misti and Ziggi's friend little Callie, who is now 13 months old, went to Lustleigh Show on Dartmoor. It was his first time amongst such a throng of people, children and dogs and he was in his element with all the new sights, sounds and smells. On a whim, I decided to enter him in the Fun Dog Show and his name was put down for the Handsomest Dog class! It was a massive class of thirty-five dogs of all shapes, sizes, colours and breeds so it was to our great amazement when Callie came first!!

Callie - Handsomest Dog winner at Lustleigh show 07

On our return home, the reaction from his various furry friends was very mixed. Misti was very impressed, whereas Buckles the old Labrador was extremely miffed, remembering back to his own experience at a country Fun Dog Show. If you’ve read my short story Showtime...Doggy-Style you’ll know why! Bruno the Springer Spaniel, who's hobby is ducking and diving in and out of hedges, ditches and streams, and is rarely without some form of vegetation attached to his being and has no notion as to the concept of showing, was too busy pulling a piece of wood to pieces to take any notice. Ziggi, after viewing the proudly displayed red rosette on the mantelpiece, walked off with his tail and nose in the air saying that by that age he had won over fifty rosettes so didn't see what all the fuss was about. Oh well, can't win 'em all!
